Reese Witherspoon started seriously pursuing an acting career when she was enrolled in Stanford University. The first time she was recognized for her work, it was with parts in movies like Pleasantville and Election but it was her performance as Elle Woods in the box office hit Legally Blonde that marked a pivotal moment in her professional career. Witherspoon received the Academy Award, in 2005, for her role as Walk the Line. Water for Elephants this means war as well as Wild were two of her most recent movies, and she was also nominated for an Oscar.
